As a part of their Legal Studies Unit, Year 10 Business students participated in a mock trial in order to further understand the processes undertaken in court during a criminal trial. Students role-playing as attorneys prepared questions for witnesses and legal arguments in preparation for the trial, while witnesses prepared their statements.

Year 11 Legal Studies students acted as judges overseeing the process and a jury sat throughout the trial and reviewed the evidence. With the unavailability of court visits at this time, the experience enabled students to understand the process of a trial and the onus for the level of evidence required to convict the defendant. After considered deliberation, they found the defendant not guilty!
