A large group of our students, from Y7-11, attended the annual conference at the Convention Centre with other schools across South East Queensland, where they were inspired and empowered to be a voice for the marginalised in our world.

An award-winning human rights activist, Khadija Gbla, challenged the students to think about unconscious bias when considering the plight of refugees and asylum seekers, and to be the change that they wanted to see in the world. Our students grappled with a challenge of what two things they would take with them if they had to leave their home in a hurry. These young leaders are ready to lead change, recruit and motivate our school to take part in this year's 40 Hour Famine Backpack Challenge, and to become change makers for refugees around the world.
