IT Security Support Team Member

Part-time (0.4 FTE)

The Northside Christian College IT team is growing, and is now hiring an IT security support team member to assist with implementing security measures to protect the College. This role is a a part time position (0.4 FTE), with some flexibility within school hours. 

Duties will include:

  • Improving/Maintaining and implementing security policies
  • Keep up to date with the latest security and technology developments
  • Research/evaluate emerging cyber security threats and ways to manage them
  • Plan for disaster recovery and create contingency plans in the event of any security breaches
  • Monitor for attacks, intrusions and unusual, unauthorised or illegal activity
  • Test and evaluate security products
  • Design new security systems or upgrade existing ones
  • Use advanced analytic tools to determine emerging threat patterns and vulnerabilities
  • Identify potential weaknesses and implement measures, such as firewalls and encryption
  • Investigate security alerts and provide incident response
  • Monitor identity and access management, including monitoring for abuse of permissions by authorised system users
  • Liaise with stakeholders in relation to cyber security issues and provide future recommendations
  • Generate reports for both technical and non-technical staff and stakeholders
  • Maintain an information security risk register and assist with internal and external audits relating to information security
  • Monitor and respond to 'phishing' emails and 'pharming' activity
  • Assist with the creation, maintenance and delivery of cyber security awareness training for colleagues

Skills and experience should include:

  • A good working understanding of cloud and on premises technologies
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Good all round client facing skills with the ability to communicate technical information to a variety of audiences
  • Fundamental understanding and awareness of information security and how this is applied in operational environments
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and able to work under pressure
  • Experience with reviewing raw log files, data correlation and analysis would be an advantage (i.e. Firewall, network, IDS, system logs).
  • Experience in reviewing threat data from various sources.

  • Some appropriate study from an accredited university or equivalent experience/combined education.
  • Coupled with your education and practical experience, you will demonstrate a ‘can-do’, pro-active, approach with the ability to understand the business, identify issues and develop relationships to achieve the College objectives.

College Sports Administration Assistant

Part Time

An exciting part-time opportunity has become available for a motivated College Sports Administration Assistant to join Northside Christian College - a Prep to Year 12 College located in Everton Park in Brisbane's inner north. 

Commencing in January 2022, our Sports Administration Assistant will play a key role in our co-curricular program, by assisting with administrative duties relating to the delivery of a variety of sporting programs. This includes programs delivered during school time as part of our Year Level Sport program, both competitive and social sports, our big three sports inter-house carnivals (swimming, cross country and athletics), as well as representative sport such as interschool fixtures, gala days, tournaments and district and regional trials. 

Northside secondary school is heavily involved in the Brisbane Outer Schools League (BOSL), a quality outside-school-hours interschool competition in a variety of sports (touch, futsal, volleyball, basketball, soccer, netball). In 2022, the College will take on the role of Administrator for this competition. As such, our Sports Administration Assistant will be required to assist the BOSL Administrator.

Performance Centre Coach

At Northside, sport is an integral part of student life and a means of developing life-long skills and healthy habits.

To assist in the delivery of our sporting program, we are seeking a qualified instructor to run fitness, strength and conditioning training sessions in our Performance Centre.

In this role, you will plan and run weekly sessions in the Performance Centre for students and staff. The aim of these sessions will be dependent on participants involved, but could be to assist those involved in representative sporting teams to improve skills specific to their chosen sport, assist participants to reach personal fitness goals, or to encourage and enable students to be involved in regular physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle. 

Session times are based largely on the coach’s availability, but must include Thursday afternoons between 12.30pm and 3.30pm term time, as well as a mixture of hours both during, before and after school.

 To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A genuine Christian commitment and subscribe to the values of the College
  • Formal qualifications in Sports Science, Exercise Science or Personal Training
  • Enthusiasm and the ability to inspire and encourage young people
  • Demonstrated sportsmanship and teamwork

Sports Coach

At Northside, sport is an integral part of student life and a means of developing life-long skills and healthy habits.

To assist in the delivery of our sporting program, we are seeking Sports Coaches for all of our representative sports (touch, futsal, basketball, volleyball, netball, soccer, swimming, cross country and track & field) for 2021.

As a Northside Sports Coach, you will plan and run weekly coaching sessions, in your chosen sport, for our representative sporting teams on Wednesday and/or Thursday afternoons between 12.30pm and 3.30pm for the duration of the respective sporting season (usually 10 weeks).

There is opportunity to increase these hours by running an additional team training sessions outside of school hours, and attending weekly games.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A genuine Christian commitment and subscribe to the values of the College
  • A Level One sports-specific coaching qualification (or the ability to acquire) 
  • Enthusiasm and the ability to inspire and encourage young people
  • Demonstrated sportsmanship and teamwork
